Murriyang, our Parkes radio telescope, has been in operation for over 60 years. Thanks to regular upgrades, it continues to be at the forefront of discovery.

Just outside the town of Parkes in the central-west region of New South Wales, about 380 kilometres from Sydney, is Murriyang – our Parkes radio telescope. It’s one of four instruments that make up the Australia Telescope National Facility.

Mount Panorama/Wahluu

Mount Panorama/Wahluu is one of the Bathurst region’s iconic attractions.

Significant to the Wiradjuri peoples as Wahluu (which means “to watch over”), it was from here that young Wiradjuri men would watch over their land and the movements of travellers to and from the valley.

Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum

The Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum permanently houses the Somerville Collection of fossils and minerals – the lifetime work of Warren Somerville AM – and features some of the finest and rarest specimens of mineral crystals and fossils from around the world.

The collection contains over 5,000 objects and is presented together to give a stronger understanding of the development of life on Earth.

Yarrangobilly Caves

Step into the depths of Yarrangobilly Caves and you’ll discover stalagmites, stalactites and delicate decorations like shawls and cave corals. Explore six caves created from a belt of limestone laid down about 440 million years ago in Koscuiszko National Park.

Eden Killer Whale Museum

Sydney Royal Easter Show
